We believe that Software Freedom and Open Source Software are a cornerstone of healthcare informatics.

We are a non-profit organization that operates to encourage the adoption and development of Open Source Health IT software.

We are something of a hybrid of the Linux Foundation/Apache Foundation and the Free Software Foundation/Open Source Initiative... and would have lots of overlap with those organizations. However, we focus exclusively, even obsessively on Health Software. We think the arguments for Open Source and Software Freedom are even more compelling in Healthcare IT.
